Let’s say a guest contacts you & mentions that the remote is not working… Lousy and too bad the batteries were not replaced on a regular schedule to avoid this scenario although this blog is not about that topic. The point is the guest needs a battery for something, maybe it could be for a child’s toy and they are hoping to not have to run out to CVS after sipping cocktails for the past ½ day in the sun by your pool.
I know a property manager who manages 30 units and EACH unit has a little plastic box of sundries under the sink. This is the go-to box for various sizes of batteries, flashlight, screw drivers (Flathead & Phillips), etc. Same goes for clean up/check out instructions – on the laminated sign plastered to the refrigerator. The consistency means that a guest could call at an odd hour waking you from a deep sleep and you could rattle off the answer about these common household item or where to find clean up directions effortlessly without having to rack your brain and try to figure out where or if those items are present in that particular house. Of course, when a pack of batteries has been consumed, must replace and put back in the box for the next need.
